Luke's Month One Highlights

Luke's First month

I thought that since I'm behind 4 months,  I can try to jot down some highlights from each month. Month one-- he was born which was a biggie, haha. The first month was rough. I'd say overstimulated may be the word to describe his first month. I really can't imagine coming from the peaceful darkness of the womb into this insanely loud family. It was a rough transition for this sweet one. Other than needing to be held a lot and needing to be rocked to sleep and not sleeping as much as he should have, the first month was relatively uneventful. He is a good nurser and gained well. No jaundice or other issues. Just an adjustment period.

The best line from Luke's first month was from Brady, who is obsessed with his baby brother, "Wuke! Baby Wukie! Come here, I feed you!" I about died laughing.

We love our little Lukie!

Halloween Fun

Dear Kate and Riley,
Ok, in the interest of conserving time I'm going to compile the rest of the Halloween pictures. We had the Massies over for pumpkin carving, we went to a ward chili cookoff, Zach had a school party and we trick-or-treated with friends. Phew, needless to say, add to that a pretty fussy baby, a body that was having a hard time recovering, and living off of virtually no sleep and I was EXHAUSTED! I don't feel like we had so many Halloween "activities" growing up, the actual day was pretty much it. It seems like it lasts all month for these kids. And yes, it is fun but man, it is also a lot of work.

Mom

Pumpkin Patch

Dear Kate and Riley,
Still having delusions of catching up some day. Despite life being SUPER crazy with the transition to three kids, we HAD to head to the pumpkin patch like we do every year. We headed over one night and they boys had a blast.

Zach's 5th Birthday

Dear Kate and Riley,
Well, October will be a busy month for us from now on. Luke on the 8th, Zach on the 12th and me on the 16th. So, when Luke was 4 days old, we had Zach's 5th birthday. Since I thought Luke would be like two weeks old at that point I had told Zach he could have a little party. I was about to call it all off but Grandma Janice stepped in to help. We let him invite a couple friends to Chuck E. Cheese after school on his birthday. I wasn't going to come but just couldn't bare the thought of missing out completely. So, in a move that only a mom of a 3rd child would make I brought Luke to the cesspool of germs-- Chuck E. Cheese at only 4 days old.

We love you Zach! He is such a great older brother and friend. He has been such a good helper since Luke came, even though it was a little bit of a rough transition. He loves anything active-- his bike, scooter, running races. He has such a strong personality and is always the one organizing games and things among his friends. He loves books and coloring. He played soccer for the first time this year and loved that too. He got his first "little" legos for his birthday and is officially obsessed. He loves playing games with mom and dad-- trouble, memory, etc. We love our Zachy!

Love,
Mom
